about
Possessed by forces beyond this realm, Vexing Hex formed in the anonymity of rural Illinois in 2014. Bonded by blood both figuratively and literally—two members are brothers—Vexing Hex cast spells in an infernal language they speak fluently: Occult Rock & Roll. Their debut LP "Haunt" is a witch's brew of doomy riffs, infectious pop melodies, and retro horror vibes. Vexing Hex will enchant fans of Ghost, Danzig, Uncle Acid, Roky Erickson, and '70s prog.
"Red Harvest" is the band's autumnal new single. It was mastered to diabolical perfection by Magnus Lindberg (Cult of Luna) who also mastered brilliant albums by Tribulation, Lucifer, and Sweven.
All who order a physical copy of "Haunt" will also receive a free download of Vexing Hex's "Red Harvest" single. Join the coven, and get hexed!
Metal Injection: "...the acoustic guitar arpeggios instantly evoke the work of countless macabre metal icons, while the more ominous elements—seductively smooth verses, guttural bass lines, fiery electric guitarwork, quirky percussion, and even some violin screeches courtesy of guest Rachel Gonzalez—grab hold of you and never let go. It’s truly a cool and catchy conjuring of everything that makes the style so beloved, showcasing how primed Vexing Hex is to be your next great discovery."
Vexing Hex is:
Cadaverus - lead vocals, guitar
Hastur - bass
Radament - drums, vocals
Rachel Gonzalez - violin (guest)
lyrics
No man fears what he's seen grow
Fear is the seed that we sow
You'll feel an autumn wind a-blowin' through a
Ripe, rolling field we'll be winnowin'
For a
Red harvest
Another red harvest, oh
Foul fodder fed to the sheep
Fat for slaughter, ready to reap
They blindly bleat in celebration (do they know?)
Their blood we'll use as irrigation
For a
Red harvest
Another red harvest, oh
Red
Ah
This harvest came in just fine
It's rotten, but that's by design
Please don't expect a cornucopia
Our fruit tends to die on the vine
We honest men of the fields
Carry hate as our sword and faith as our shields
We got a lot to do, ain't got a lot to say
Good God, we might as well pray
For a
Red harvest
Another red harvest, oh
Red harvest, oh
A red harvest
Red harvest
Another red harvest, oh

Recorded in a haunted crypt.
crushing melodies and heavy ass vocals. love the doomy atmosphere they build. Feels like you're hopelessly floating in the vacuum of space awaiting your inevitable demise. excited to see what comes out in the future and will continue to melt my eardrums to this for some time. Dylan
I've gotten myself into GR by first getting their last album, then decided to give this one a go too. Atoms divide, life decays, seems we are into nuclear explosions here, that is how GR feels, a powerful and fast blitz and stormy riffs and groovy hardcorish - thrashy blasts. Highly recommended for all thrash lovers out there. Toxic Holocaust does come in mind, true that, Wraith, Municipal Waste fans should love this ! sachavonkarl74
